Sweet moment....

Every morning after Braden and I drop Kate off at school we have the following conversation....

Braden - "Mommy, where Kate go?" (knowing we just dropped her off at school)
Me - "She went to school Braden"
Braden - "Well, me miss her." (even though she's been gone less than 10 seconds)

and then throughout the day.....

Braden - "Mommy, where going? Going to get Kate?"

Kate and Braden updates

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes during this crazy month of August for us! Kate had her follow-up appointment today with her GI doctor to finally get her test results. As I mentioned before her scope showed that her esophagus still looks good (no damage from all the reflux...yeah) and there was no evidence of side effects from the medications she's been taking for so long. Her probe (the 24 hour monitoring test) however was "very abnormal" which means that she still has significant reflux. There was a slight improvement in the amount of reflux she's having compared to the last probe she had done when she was 2 1/2, but she still has periods of time with constant relux activity going on. What this means is that her medications are working so we do not have to consider surgery. She will continue on her medications and hopefully outgrown this at some point. We are very thankful that we don't have to consider surgery and that there are some medications to control her discomfort. Though it's a little discouraging that the reflux is still so bad we're thankful that we know what has caused her recent "epsidoes" and don't have to continue to search for answers.

As for our "Big B" Braden....he had his stitches removed this morning. Brad had the pleasure of taking him while I had Kate at her appt. He was less than thrilled, but survived and seems to have forgotten about it all by now. I guess they considered not removing them yet, but decided to go ahead. PLEASE pray the he does not bump his head and reopen the cut. He is not cooperating with quiet activities and continues to move around in leaps and bounds so it makes me a little nervous! Boys will be boys....

Oopsy Daisy!

One of Braden's new favorite things to say is "oopsy daisy". Well...last night he had a big one! He tripped walking down the sidewalk to my parents house (the one they are moving from tomorrow). He has RUN down that sidewalk since he has been able to run with us grabbing him telling him to be careful and slow down. Last night as he was actually walking he tripped right as he approached the concrete steps and hit his head on the first step. Needless to say we headed to Children's where he received a total of 7 stitches. These are some of the happy pictures during our wait. He actually did great when they were stitching him up thanks to a little "happy juice". On Friday he has to go to the pediatrician to have the stitches removed (without happy juice) so I'm sure that will be a different story. We'll keep you posted.....

Time to move on............

Wednesday is the big moving day for my parents. We are excited about their new house, but a little sad to be packing up 30 years of memories (I was in Kindergarten when they moved into that house). My brother came in town this weekend to help with some packing and moving so we had to take a few family pictures.

Kate's 1st day of Kindergarten!!!!!!

Kate had a great first day of Kindergarten! She was so excited that she woke up early (6:45) on her own and wanted to know if it was time to leave. She loved packing up her new backpack and lunchbox and headed right into her room like an old pro. When I picked her up I asked her what she thought of Kindergarten. Her response was "I love it!". She had lots of fun and can't wait to go back. She's off to a great start!

Kate's "Meet the Teacher"

Kate went to meet her Kindergarten teacher today and had a great time! She got to look around her classroom and visited the cafeteria, library, computer lab, and gym. There are a few girls from our neighborhood in her class so she's excited to have some friends in her room. She can't wait to go back!

CANNONBALL!!!!

I knew we were in trouble a few nights ago when I heard Braden yell "cannonball" in the stairwell. He decided to jump 4 steps and ended up almost biting his tongue off. This picture does not do it justice, but I didn't want to gross everyone out. He is healing up quickly, but gave us quite a scare.
Being comforted by 'bink and blank" after the accident. This was actually the last time he has had his binky. It was reopening the gaping valley in his tongue so we had to take it away. He's made it two nights without his binky so this might be the good thing that will come out of all this. I'm going to miss that sweet binky face, but I guess it's time!

Wacky Wednesday

Ready for Wacky Wednesday at soccer camp!
Is that Superman or Batman???

First Loose Tooth!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kate has her first loose tooth and is very excited! I personally believe it is going to be the slowest loose tooth ever to fall out. She discovered several days ago while eating corn on the cob how loose it was and has been talking non-stop about it ever since. We have tried helping it along a few times, but it seems to want to stay put for now. Hopefully we will have an update on the tooth in the NEAR future. :-)
