Kate and Braden updates

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes during this crazy month of August for us! Kate had her follow-up appointment today with her GI doctor to finally get her test results. As I mentioned before her scope showed that her esophagus still looks good (no damage from all the reflux...yeah) and there was no evidence of side effects from the medications she's been taking for so long. Her probe (the 24 hour monitoring test) however was "very abnormal" which means that she still has significant reflux. There was a slight improvement in the amount of reflux she's having compared to the last probe she had done when she was 2 1/2, but she still has periods of time with constant relux activity going on. What this means is that her medications are working so we do not have to consider surgery. She will continue on her medications and hopefully outgrown this at some point. We are very thankful that we don't have to consider surgery and that there are some medications to control her discomfort. Though it's a little discouraging that the reflux is still so bad we're thankful that we know what has caused her recent "epsidoes" and don't have to continue to search for answers.

As for our "Big B" Braden....he had his stitches removed this morning. Brad had the pleasure of taking him while I had Kate at her appt. He was less than thrilled, but survived and seems to have forgotten about it all by now. I guess they considered not removing them yet, but decided to go ahead. PLEASE pray the he does not bump his head and reopen the cut. He is not cooperating with quiet activities and continues to move around in leaps and bounds so it makes me a little nervous! Boys will be boys....
