It’s sometimes very difficult

for us to understand

the wisdom and the love behind

the things that God has planned.

But we wouldn’t have the rainbow

If we didn’t have the rain;

We wouldn’t know the pleasure

If we never tasted pain.

We wouldn’t love the sunrise

If we hadn’t felt the night;

And we wouldn’t know our weakness

If we hadn’t sensed God’s might.

We couldn’t have the springtime

or the yellow daffodil

if we hadn’t experienced

the winter’s frosty chill.

And though the brilliant sunshine

is something God has made.

He knew too much could parch our souls

so He created shade.

So God’s given us a balance:

Enough joys to keep us glad,

Enough tears to keep us humble,

Enough good to balance bad.

And if you’ll trust in Him you’ll see

Though yesterday brought sorrow,

The clouds will part and dawn will bring

A happier tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas a little early!

This past weekend Jay, Lori, Emily, Will and Allie came in town so we could all celebrate Christmas with Nonny and PopPop. On Saturday night we went to Dixie Stampede. The show was great and we all had so much fun. On Sunday we opened presents. We love it when we can all get together!!

Cookies & Punch with Kate's class

Kate's class invited all the parents to come to school for cookies and punch last Friday. They recited all the bible verses they have learned so far this year and sang us a few Christmas songs. It was such a special time!

Kate's 5th Birthday!!!

Kate had an indoor soccer party on Tuesday to celebrate her 5th birthday. We all had a great time celebrating her special day. After the party we went to Nonny and PopPop's house for dinner and to open a few presents. We can't believe our girl is five!!!

Kate's Christmas Parade & Program

Kate's class paraded as Jingle Bells today. They also had a special program after the parade for all the parents. Kate was a star!

Happy Birthday Jesus Party

Our playgroup had a birthday party for Jesus last night. We ate pizza, heard the story of Jesus' birth, sang songs, and had cupcakes. It was a special celebration!

Braden's Christmas Parade!

Braden's class dressed as shephards and angels for the parade today. They paraded the halls and then had a special program in the classroom for the parents. Each child presented baby Jesus with a gift and they also sang a few songs. They were all so precious!

Watching TV with Daddy

Hat & Mittens

Braden loves his new hat and mittens. He wore them to school one day last week and wouldn't take them off. He ended up wearing them for an hour before they came off!

Oak Ridge Playhouse

Kate and I went to the Oak Ridge Playhouse today with our friends Wendy and Audrey to see Cinderella. We all had a great time!

Visit with Santa

We went to the Christmas Open House at Franklin Square today and got to visit with Santa. Kate was excited to sit in his lap this year. Braden was NOT excited!

Nonny & PopPop's Lot

After visiting with Santa today we went to see Nonny & PopPop's lot. They just finishing clearing it. There was a huge bulldozer still there. Kate and Braden had a big time checking it out and playing with all the sticks and leaves!

Getting ready for Christmas!

We decorated our Christmas tree this past week. Both kids were VERY excited to help and are constantly rearranging the ornaments. :-)

Thanksgiving!

We had a nice Thanksgiving spent with family and friends. We had a big dinner Wednesday night at Nonny & PopPop's and then leftovers for lunch on Thursday so PopPop and Daddy could go hunting. Thursday night we had another big dinner with the Higleys and Kershaws. Lots of turkey!!

Fantasy of Trees

Mom and I took the kids to the Fantasy of Trees last Wednesday. Kate and Braden enjoyed the crafts and rides and we all loved the pretty trees and lights.

Wise Worm

Kate had a Thanksgiving feast at school today. She made a Pilgrim hat and Indian headband. The Indian name she picked for herself is "Wise Worm". Her adorable turkey shirt was made by my friend Julie. You can click on her website link (Julianne Originals) to see all of her great stuff!

Ready for Church
